[9:58] <mileszs> jqr: So what do you think of SproutCore?
[9:59] <jqr> it's still a little rough around the edges, but the capabilities it brings are well worth the shift in paradigm
[10:00] <jqr> I added real time changing and synchronizing of all records in a demo database with many clients in just few hours work
[10:03] <mileszs> Cool! I've heard mention of it, but haven't more than glanced at its website.
[10:04] <jqr> might as well wait for the 1.0 release, it still has some pretty glaring mistakes in tutorial code due to library changes
[10:05] <jqr> I spent most of my time digging through other open source sproutcore apps and the library itself looking for clues
[10:05] <mileszs> haha well that's always fun.
[10:11] <mileszs> Interesting. It sounds cool, from what I've been reading. The site seems to sort of blow if you're just looking for a quick overview of the project.
[10:11] <mileszs> Either that, or I've become even less patient of late.
[10:16] <jqr> no it blows :)
[10:18] <jqr> here are a couple of cool apps: http://listenapp.com/ http://tasks-sc.appspot.com/ (login using EPM and click the X in filter to actually show some stuff)
[10:40] <mileszs> Nice. ListenApp is neat. Is that supposedly easy to pull off using SproutCore?

[12:05] <dsp> is there a way for a javascript file loaded from a script tag to know why url it was referenced by?
[12:07] <baldwindavid> not sure this would be the best way but you could have a variable on page holding that info that is used by the js script
[12:08] <baldwindavid> is anyone using Google Wave yet?
[12:08] <dsp> sure, i was hoping something a little more automagic was possible
[12:10] <baldwindavid> do you mean like window.location.href?
[12:11] <dsp> but that's the page's url, not the url of the script that was loaded
[12:13] <baldwindavid> yeah, just making sure
[12:21] <davidray> i request wave but haven't heard yer
[12:21] <davidray> yet
[12:22] <dsp> it's going to take a while
[12:22] <dsp> even invites were delayed
[12:25] <baldwindavid> as if there aren't enough options, I somehow find myself building my own hosted CMS
[12:27] <jqr> dsp, you're looking for __FILE__ like support from js eh? I don't know of anything.
[12:33] <jqr> http://ajaxian.com/archives/firefox-trunk-accelerometers-webgl-and-css-transitions
[12:42] <dsp> hm, thanks
[12:42] <jqr> sorry, that was unrelated :)
[12:43] <jqr> googling for __FILE__ javascript has a fule solutions
[12:44] <jqr> useful
[12:44] <jqr> fule = few useful
[12:44] <jqr> :)
[12:59] <mileszs> HA! fule. I like it.
[13:30] <mileszs> jqr: I should have asked you yesterday if you wanted to head down to see Dawkins. I didn't go because I had no one to ride down with me, and I didn't want to make the trip by myself.
[14:13] <dsp> what? dawkins was here?
[14:13] <dsp> ah, in bloomington
[14:13] <dsp> i'd have gone, darn
[14:30] <jqr> well, we all suck
[14:31] <jqr> but me most of all, I tweeted it and I forgot :)
[14:31] <dsp> i think you guys suck more for knowing and not going
[14:31] <jqr> hahah
[14:32] <dsp> is the meeting going to be fun tonight?
[14:32] <jqr> maybe, what are you going to be talking about?
[14:33] <dsp> so the meeting won't be fun, good to know
[14:34] <jqr> I have some simple sproutcore stuff to show off, and I could possibly talk about RunCodeRun, but that's it.
[14:37] <mileszs> davidray is giving a presentation.
[14:38] <baldwindavid> also I think gbenedict is going to be presenting
[14:38] <davidray> "Make It Little"
[14:38] <davidray> "Building a Successful Company in a Micronomy"
[14:39] <baldwindavid> I assume you guys are talking about "Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkin, right? ha
[14:39] <baldwindavid> Dawkins
[14:49] <mileszs> hahaha
[14:50] <mileszs> Yes. Us nerdy white guys love us some Chocolate Thunder.
[14:52] <baldwindavid> after a short nap on the seventh day, God created Darryl Dawkins
[15:07] <mileszs> hahaha

[19:37] <mileszs> davidray is presenting. SaaS and Micronomies.
[19:37] <mileszs> IRC: The Original Twitter.
[19:37] <mileszs> (Not a presentation title. Just a fact. ;-)
[19:39] <waz> heh
[19:40] <waz> sans the silly limit
[19:40] * baldwindavid (n=baldwind@64.190.163.205) Quit ()
[19:40] <mileszs> True!
[19:40] <waz> was going to come but stuck in a meeting :(
[19:41] <mileszs> AAAAAaaaa! I hate meetings. Unless there's beer. (There's never, ever beer.)
[19:50] <waz> actually
[19:50] <waz> there is when I'm in the meeting from my home office and it's after 5pm my time :)
[20:03] <mileszs> Nice!
[20:10] <mileszs> gbenedict is now presenting... well, I guess you'd call it "dynamic urls". ...?
[20:20] <mileszs> He's doing a code walk-through, which is nice. He's also presenting via screenshare on davidray's machine. :-)
[20:21] <mileszs> Just realized davidray mentioned the title(s) of his talk earlier: "Make It Little" or "Building a Successful Company in a Micronomy"
[20:53] <mileszs> Javascript question. jqr and igg should be here.
[20:54] <mileszs> (Not that no one else knows JS well....)
[20:54] <jqr> ra
[20:54] <jqr> quesiton?
[20:54] <jqr> :)
[20:54] <jqr> we need video streaming already
[20:54] <mileszs> No kidding. We need a ustream.tv channel or something.
[20:55] <mileszs> It's related to multi-model forms, basically. He doesn't know any javascript, and has copy and pasted some code from various sources to get done what he wanted to get done.
[20:55] <mileszs> He just wants to actually understand wtf it's doing.
[20:55] <mileszs> futuremint's on it.
[20:55] <mileszs> I'm really enjoying calling everyone by their IRC or Twitter handles.
[20:56] <jqr> :)
[20:56] <jqr> who's asking the question?
[20:56] <jqr> "Starting next July, every person in Finland will have the right to a one-megabit broadband connection, according to the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Finland is the world's first country to create laws guaranteeing broadband access. The Finnish people are also legally guaranteed a 100Mb broadband connection by the end of 2015."
[20:56] <mileszs> Nice! I'm not sure I agree with passing such legislation, but cool! :-)
[20:58] <mileszs> Um... I don't remember the dude's name. At the risk of offending him, he's a tall, shaggy blonde. He's a little bit Owen Wilson, except he doesn't appear to have had his nose reconstructed by Mr. T.
[20:58] <jqr> hahaa
[20:58] <jqr> I think I know the guy you're talking about
[20:58] <mileszs> Cool dude, in any case. :-)
[21:01] <mileszs> By the way, I've been trying to install wkhtmltopdf on one of our servers. It install just fine, except instead of rendering fonts, it's rendering boxes.
[21:02] <mileszs> In theory, I'll get it installed properly tomorrow, and then we will begin exercising wicked_pdf more strenuously.
[21:03] <jqr> gotta love fonts
[21:05] <mileszs> By the way, announcement: YEHUDA KATZ PRESENTATION NEXT WEEK! (remotely)
[21:05] <mileszs> I mean NEXT MONTH
[21:05] <mileszs> IGNORE THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN.
[21:05] <jqr> nice.
[21:10] <mileszs> Pub time. Almost. I hope. Laters.
